77-3023KP for '01 Sliverado 1500HD 4X4, 6.0L V8. Sep 29, 2006
By Cesar G. Rodriguez
"SilverSun"
I purchased this kit for my truck to compliment the new dual 40 series Flowmasters that I had installed two weeks prior. As such I cannot testify to how well the product would work alone. However, I am inclined to say that the performance enhancement would be significant since I can feel a difference even over the changes provided by my dual exhaust. This 77 series 3023KP is designated for GM's 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 liter V8 engines typically found in Silverados, Sierras, Yukons and Suburbans. As noted above, my truck is equiped with the 6.0 and the after market exhaust is a true dual exahust, front to back with no H pipe, Y pipe or any other type of crossover. I mention this because the results may vary if you have the type of dual exhaust which is really only a single muffler with a single entry and dual exits.
I am not going to tell you that this thing will give you so much more seat-of-the-pants acceleration. Even if it does provide the advertised horsepower gains of 14+HP, consider that it is being added to an engine that already makes over 300HP and pushes a pretty heavy truck. Sure I can smoke the tires but I was able to do that when stock. In fact, I got pulled over once for accidentally barking the wheels when accelerating out of a wet driveway.
So what is the point you say? Why do I rate this product at 5 stars when it hasn't turned my truck into a Nascar racer? The answer is simple. It does what it says it does which is make my engine run better, with better throttle response and added efficiency all of which translate to better acceleration and overall driveability. I immedeately noticed that my engine seems far less labored under normal driving conditions. The transmission shifts alot smoother making the overall ride more comfortable. Passing on the highway is significantlly easier due to increased throttle response. I wouldn't be surprised if I see an increase in my MPG and I will report on that once I can guage it. One of my favorite attributes of the system (and one that lets me know it is working) is how after I shut off my engine, the last thing that I hear is the kit taking a last gulp of air and sending it down that polished tube. And speaking of the polished tube, it doesn't hurt that the unit looks impressive and really enhances the look of the engine.
A few notes on istallation. Anyone handy with tools and familiar with basic engine components can install this unit easily. Even with what little mechanics experience that I have, I was able to put this thing together and in the truck in just over an hour. Someone with experience with this sort of add-on could do it much quicker but I felt the need to check things twice just to make sure that I was doing everything correctly. Also, the first thing that I did when opening the box was to go through the parts list and contents and make sure that everything was there. The time I took to do this is factored into my stated 1+ hour install time. The hardest part of the process was installing the supplied edge trim onto the heat shield. It took alot of effort to follow the edges of the shield with the heavy duty gasket. Although in the instructions, this step comes after you are directed to attatch your stock mass air meter to the shield, I would recomend that you add the edge trim first. You will be wresteling the unit around alot and it would really bite if you damaged your air meter in the process. Also, in the instructions for this application there is a typo in the parts diagram. Part number 07027, 6mm rubber mounting studs is item "O" on the part list but is labled "D" on the diagram. This should be pretty obvious since the performance intake tube is already labled "D". Other than this, everything else was pretty straight forward.
This system is great and I recommend it to anyone who wishes to spice up the performance of their truck or SUV. My truck is as fun to drive now as it was the day that I got it. I have seen this unit selling for a few bucks less on other sites. However, the little bit extra that I paid got me the peace of mind that I only have when ordering from Amazon.com. I have trusted Amazon since I was in college and would order my books from them. I would rather spend a bit more and KNOW that I am getting great service and peace of mind. I have seen one too many reviews on those other sites where customers state problems such as missing or incorrect parts! I can testify with no amount of exagerration that in nearly six years of ordering from Amazon.com I have NEVER had a single problem with my orders.

Awesome Product Sep 13, 2009
By Jonathan Di Bari After buying this product for my '01 Chevy Tahoe, it seems to be paying for itself after I installed it. The sound that comes from the engine when you step on the gas is just unbelievable, it really gives the stock engine the boost it needs, along with the extra growl that just seems to get me noticed, lol. The extra 15 hp gain is also a great added bonus, my 0-60 time shrunk just a little bit and acceleration on the highway with a trunk packed full of suitcases and furniture seems to go alot smoother and quicker. Gas mileage so far seems to be about the same as before, I haven't done dyno tuning yet on my car so the computer still restricts a lot of the engine's potential so gas mileage will probably stay the same until it is tuned and it is expected that mileage will go up when this is done. There really aren't any downsides to buying this product, in my case the only problem I have is just that mileage has stayed about the same, but it could simply be just my car and the way I've been driving it. I'll update this post after my car is performance tuned to give you potential buyers the word on the gas mileage situation. Overall, great product, this is something that I highly recommend, buy K&N. Nothing but the best.

Installed on 2002 Suburban Jun 01, 2009
By Jim To start off with, K&N is a world class company and should be commended on there engineering, written directions and for having everything in the kit that they say is there. I did the complete installation in under 30 minutes with out one sware word or drop of blood. As most of you would agree that is a feat in its self and very uneventful. Everything was in the kit, fit as it was suppose to and the look is wonderful as well. The sound everyone talks of in reviews of this product are spot on.
Now for the nuts and bolts of this product. I purchased my Suburban for or to be a Vegas runner between Vegas and Anaheim, CA. Our first trip was with stock everything and we averaged 19.8 going to Vegas and to my suprise 20.98 on the way back. Reading that Cat Back exhaust and the K&N Cold Air Injection would get me another 2+ mpg, I figured it out and this would pay its self back in about 14 months. I added both and was shocked when going to Vegas my milage dropped to 16.01 and on the return trip to CA it was 18.14. I did not change anything other than intake and exhaust. I drove at around 75 both ways which is just how we do it no matter what car or truck we take.
I did not add the fuel chip or have the fuel system tuned by a dyno. I will add a fuel chip first then if that does not work I will remove the Cold Air Injection. We purchased this truck for a runner, and if it likes stock intake better, so be it. I love the sound and power that the Cold Air Injection makes and am completly satisfied as it does what is says that it does. My application just might have been better off left alone. Would I purchase another K&N product? Absolutly. I have them on all of my cars, trucks and Harley's.

K&N High-Flow Intake 77-3023KP Sep 12, 2011
By ajd61292 Just put it on this morning and took it for a test drive and WOW i could really tell a difference in power and acceleration. It was a pretty easy install too, it probably took me about 30-45 minutes to put it on. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to add some power to their truck!
