Effective Jeep Patriot upgrade Mar 05, 2010

Had one of these in an '05 Dakota and ad satisfactory results again when I got one to replace te disposable paper filter in the Patriot. I averaged an extra (rater recovered) 1-2 MPG city even after oly 3k miles on the original stock filter. almost at 20K miles and response and fuel economy still have a reasonable improvement over the stock paper filter.
I may in the future upgrade to a CAI kit they released last year for the Jeep Patriot. I hear it gives a nice little boost in overall performance and a more appealing sound, but K&Ns CAI kit costs about 4-5 times as much as this alternative to the disposable OEM rectangular filter.

The item arrived yesterday. While it is way too early for me to tell you if it helps my mileage, I can tell you that I did feel an immediate difference in acceleration and smoothness to the engine. I drive a 2009 Jeep Patriot, which is a 4 cyl 2.0 engine. After reading about the filter on different forums, I thought at least I would have a filter I didn't have to worry about changing all the time. Installation was easy, and only time will tell whether it performs better. But I am happy already with the performance of the filter.
UPDATE - 08/24/2011 - After a couple of gas fill ups, I can tell you that the filter definitely has improved my gas mileage. Before the air filter I was getting 21 or 22 MPG. Now I get between 23 and 24. Is it a big deal? Maybe not, but over time I will save some money and it does confirm that the air filter does work better than the typical filter. One other thing I have noticed is that the engine seems a little louder than before.

Item well packaged and arrived on schedule. After installation, car engine revs a lot smoother at high rpms. Totally eliminated the high rpm shake felt inside the car that was present with the stock air filter. No other noticeable advantages noted. Same MPG. Same engine note. Installed on a 2010 Jeep Patriot 4x4 2.4L.

Very easy installation. Can't say I noticed any difference in performance(nor did I expect too). Good filter, good price.
